More than 1,300 years ago, during the Asuka Period in the early 7th century, Ikaruga was a center of Japan’s politics and culture. Ikaruga is located west of Nara City and is now an idyllic village where many cultural assets, including World Heritage Sites and ancient tombs, stand in quiet dignity. This is one of the best autumn hiking/cycling courses in Nara.
To get to Ikaruga, take the JR train line and get off at Horyuji Sta.
