Access to Destinations Outside Central Nara

To Nishinokyo Area (Toshodai-ji Temple/Yakushi-ji Temple)
By train: take a Kintetsu train from Nara Sta. and get off at Nishinokyo Sta. (change trains at Saidaiji Sta. to the local train bound for Tenri or Kashihara Jingu-mae); about 15 min.; 250yen. By bus: take Nara Kotsu bus #88 or #97 from JR or Kintetsu Nara Sta. and get off at Yakushiji Higashi-guchi or Yakushiji Chushajo (car park) stop; about 30 min.; 240yen.
To Ikaruga Area (Horyu-ji Temple)
By train: take JR train from Nara Sta. to Horyuji Sta.; about 10 min.; 210yen, and then walk about 20 min. or take Nara Kotsu Bus #72 to the temple. By bus: take Nara Kotsu bus #97 or #98 from JR or Kintetsu Nara Sta. and get off at Horyuji-mae stop; about 30 min.; 240yen.
To Asuka Area
By train: take Kintetsu train from Nara Sta. and change trains at Saidaiji Sta. to one bound for Kashihara Jingu-mae Sta. (get on an express (kyuukou)). Then, change trains again at the final station (Kashihara JIngu-mae) to one bound for Yoshino, and get off at Okadera or Asuka Sta.; about 1 hour; 560yen.
To Yoshino Area
By train: take the same route as above to Asuka and get off the train at Yoshino Sta.; about 100 min,; \830.
To Yagyu Area
Yagyu is situated northeast of Nara city. It is located in a mountain area and is the home of a famous Japanese swordsmanship school; Take Nara Kotsu Bus #100, 101, or 102 from Kintetsu Nara Stn. (platform #4); 950yen; 50 min.; the bus service runs every few hours;

Access to Kansai International Airport

An airport limousine bus service is available between KIX and some locations in Nara (Kintetsu Nara Stn., JR Nara Stn., Nara Hotel, Kintetsu Gakuenmae Stn., Ichimoto (Tenri City)); 1,800yen; the first bus departs from JR Nara Stn. at 6:00; service available almost every hour until 21:00 (please check with your hotel’s staff); about 90 min.; the first bus departs from KIX to Nara at 7:40; service available almost every hour until 20:40.

Access to/from Other Areas

To/From Kyoto
1) Take Kintetsu Railways from Kyoto Stn. to Nara Stn.; special express takes 35 min. and express takes 45 min.; 610yen (additional 500yen required for special express); 2) Take JR Railways from Kyoto Stn. to Nara Stn.; Miyaoji-kaisoku express takes 45 min.; 690yen.
To/From Osaka
1) Take Kintetsu Railways from Namba Stn. to Nara Stn.; express takes 40 min.; 540yen; 2) Take JR Railways from Osaka Stn. to Nara Stn.; Yamatoji-kaisoku express takes 50 min.; \780.
